Cisco Telepresence makes virtual presentations a reality

Guard against this video of Cisco’s telepresence system that means a spieler in Bangalore can have real-time interaction with a spieler in California, with it looking to the audience like they’re in the same concrete space.

Ok, for magic nerds amongst you so this is barely Pepper’s Ghost from the 17th Century (where they would out images onto glass to make ghosts), but man, it looks unconditionally cool!

I think this could work, if the speaker gets to see/sanction the audience. It’s not going to have somewhat the same energy as a flesh-and-blood bestowal, but it might make it possible to have some world-group speakers speak at your conference without having to fly them all the way there…
